A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Java developer with team leading skills to join an expanding transatlantic software house. 50% project management, 50% development. In charge of a team of initially 3 software engineers, reporting to the CEO and producing scientific data management software. The project management function includes development of functional specifications via close communication with internal “customers”, primarily in the US.
Lead a team of software engineers working on designing and developing software modules and associated user documentation as part of an overall team effort, centred on a short product release cycle. Responsibility for maintenance of existing software is also a part of the job.
-Ensure conformance with the version control, build process, coding and documentation standards.
Skills:
• Java, particularly J2EE and Swing
• Team management

• Preparation of Functional and Design Documentation
• Experience of pre and post sales involvement in customer meetings
Project management activities involve close liaison with staff at all levels to ensure compliance with delivery times, task assignment and monitoring of progress, ensuring consistent quality of work is being maintained.
